SOPHIE WATSON: programme transcript
My name is Sophie I’m 10 years old and I was born in Edinburgh.
In my family there’s my Mum, my Dad, my three brothers, my two cats, my Nana and my Grannie. My favourite place must be Blackford Hill ‘cos it’s lovely. When I’m at the top of Blackford Hill it’s like the winds in your face and you look over Edinburgh and it’s just so beautiful seeing all the tiny people. So you’re just like “I’m up high”.
On Thursday’s I go to my Drama Club at North Edinburgh Arts and on Friday I go to an Art Workshop at North Edinburgh Arts. I like creating stuff, I like drawing and painting. Nothing like maths or anything, nothing with numbers. I like art because nobody can tell you what you are doing is wrong. Nobody can say “you’ve drawn that wrong. Rip it up”.
At North Edinburgh Arts in my classes we normally act out different things, sometimes we pretend that there’s no-one there and dance and we write things down and sometimes we swap it around and make funny stories and stuff. My favourite things were probably when we had to sometimes pretend to be our favourite toys and then we’d parade about like them, quite funny.
In my class are three girls, four including me; Becky, Melissa and Jade. Everybody is so nice, none of them are horrible to you or talk behind your back. Everybody is open and friendly, so I look forward to the classes.
I like acting because you can be other people and you don’t always have to be yourself and if you are yourself it’s not really acting is it. Cameron Diaz is quite good though sometimes she gets on my nerves.
My favourite thing about Edinburgh is the Festival - lots of tourists come and it’s always buzzing with activity whatever the weather and everybody is friendly. I like the shops, I like Mary Kings Close, I like Blackford Hill and Arthur’s Seat, so lots of different places.
I interviewed the First Minister of Scotland. I asked him if he could promise that there’d be no World War III. But he wouldn’t look at me in the eye and he said that nobody could promise anything but he’s trying his best.
I’d come back to Edinburgh because it’s a nice place to live. It’s got lots of lovely buildings. Everybody likes to go there. It’s a good place for the capital of Scotland.
Once I’m famous I’ll go and travel the world, then I’ll make sure I buy a nice big house here.
